Position Summary

This position is needed to facilitate instructor based training courses to advanced General Motors service technicians. They will work directly with the service technicians in a classroom setting to effectively transfer theoretical knowledge to actual live diagnostic strategies. This position exists as part of a contract between Raytheon and the Workforce Development Division to serve this target audience.

Principal Accountabilities

• Accurately and objectively evaluate diagnostic skills and aptitude of service technician’s skills in a classroom setting
• Involvement in creating technology and alternate training delivery methods, including: Video, Web-Based Training, Virtual Classroom Training, and Facilitated Hands-on Training
• Tools and equipment – maintain the inventory and insure functionality for training use
• Maintain a safe and positive training environment
• Build training schedules to meet customer demand and yearly productivity goals
• Interface with managing fleet of vehicles provided by GM (e.g., prepare vehicles for return to auction, and reception of vehicles that are provided)
• Scheduling with Raytheon of actual class schedule, student rosters, etc.
• Coordination of, and execution of, all administrative paperwork with Raytheon


• A minimum of an Associate’s degree in Automotive Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience required
• A minimum of two (2) years automotive technician experience required
• A minimum of two (2) years automotive instructor experience required
ASE Certified Master Technician required
• Strong knowledge of intricate automotive systems required
• Demonstrated ability to work skillfully with highly technical diagnostic equipment, including: Scan Tools, Lab Scopes, DVOMs, Air Conditioning Recycling Equipment, Vibration Diagnostic Equipment, etc. required
• Must have the ability to handle complex classroom learning situations required
• Excellent automotive systems diagnostic skills, along with excellent communication, evaluation and interpersonal skills required
• Intermediate computer skills required, including use of the internet and Microsoft Office products
• GM Master Technician Certification preferred
• Must have the ability to work independently and assimilate quickly preferred
• Must have excellent time management and organizational skills preferred
• Ability to work well with both internal and external customers and coworkers in a team setting preferred
• Demonstrate knowledge of adult-learning principles and competency-based training preferred
• Prior automotive technician experience and Technical Trainer experience in a corporate or educational setting preferred
• Extensive General Motors technical knowledge a plus
