Position Summary

Sinclair Community Colleges is a comprehensive community college with an enrollment of over 20,000 students that offers career and transfer programs leading to an associate degree, certificate programs, and continuing education opportunities. We are seeking applicants for a tenure track position in Aviation beginning on January 1, 2018.

Principal Accountabilities

- Lead other administrative/departmental activities as assigned.
- Promote program development and enrollment growth of the aviation department.
- Participate, market and promote aviation educational initiatives with professional societies, industrial associations, airshows and other events on an irregular schedule.
- Classroom duties to include teaching classes leading to degrees in multiple aviation disciplines including professional pilot and unmanned aerial systems (UAS). These are classes involving aviation management, leadership, aerodynamics, human factors, navigation, weather, FAA regulations and other courses related to the professional pilot career field, unmanned aerial vehicles and aviation businesses.
- Other duties as assigned by Dean and Department Chairperson.

Requirements
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Aviation or related discipline with a minimum of five years of relevant aviation experience is required.
  • A Master’s degree is required to be eligible to apply for tenure. Applicants who do not possess a master’s degree are eligible to apply for the position but will be required to obtain a master’s degree prior to being eligible for tenure.
  • Experience in an operational, managerial, technical or instructional position related to the aviation industry required
  • FAA Certificates commensurate with relevant aviation experience. Minimum of a Private Pilot certificate required. Instrument, Commercial, Multi-engine, Certified Flight Instructor (CFI), Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII) and Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) preferred.
  • Experience in the UAS industry is preferred.
