Position Summary

A trained lifeguard’s primary duty is to preserve the safety of all swimmers during open swim periods, credit and non-credit classes and non-college group use by preventing accidents, and responding to emergencies.

Principal Accountabilities

•Supervise swimming pool including deck area, pool entrance/exits, and spectator area.

•Responsible for daily chemical level readings of the pool for chlorine and PH. Other chemical level readings are done as requested.

•Enforce all facility rules, policies and regulations.

•Inspect the facility on a daily schedule and report unsafe conditions and equipment to supervisor.

•Participate in periodic in-service training and rescue/emergency drills and maintain swimming fitness levels.

•Carry out all additional duties assigned by the PAC Manager or P.A.C. Supervisor.

Requirements

•Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent required

•American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (or equivalent) required

•Good organization skills, communication, interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and a strong desire to assist people required

•Ability to provide service in a responsible manner by being knowledgeable, proactive and supportive required

•Ability to work successfully in a diverse environment consisting of people from many age ranges and many ethnic backgrounds required

•Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously while providing great attention to detail and meet all prescribed deadlines required

•Willingness to learn and adapt to new situations and skill sets required
