Position Summary

Sinclair seeks to attract an academically and culturally diverse faculty that carries out the mission of the college with dedication, innovation and a commitment to the success of each student. The Division of Science, Mathematics and Engineering invites applications for a one term annually contracted faculty opening in the Mathematics Department effective on or after January 1, 2018.

Resume review will begin on 11/15/2017.

Principal Accountabilities

• Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning

• Prepare, distribute and submit syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies

• Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, use available instructional technology when applicable

• Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student’s needs

• Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success

• Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learning

• Maintain accurate records of student progress

• Submit final grade rosters according to established deadlines

• Maintain confidentiality of student information

• Teach a minimum of 15 payload hours per semester in a variety of courses in the field of Mathematics

• Work closely with the department chairperson, other full time faculty and the divisional dean to implement the instructional program

• Participate in department, division and college-wide meetings

• Maintain office hours and respond to student inquiries in a timely and effective manner

Requirements

• A minimum of a master’s degree in mathematics or statistics, or a master’s degree with 18 graduate credit semester hours in mathematics or statistics is required

• A demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the course and program level

• Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work successfully in a culturally diverse college community

• Must possess demonstrated skills in using modern educational technology, including multimedia-based instruction
