Position Summary

This position will provide assistance to the Department Chairperson by developing and implementing outreach, programming, and recruitment strategies to promote the Engineering Technology Design department. This position is required to assist the Chair in many of the day-to-day functions of the department as well assist in program development, coordination, student recruitment and marketing.

Principal Accountabilities

• Provide support in planning and coordinating events to include outreach efforts, departmental programming, and student recruitment.
• Help (potential) students with admissions, enrollment, registration, financial aid, and tracking of students.
• Field student calls and questions about the department’s programs.
• Work with advisory board members, internship host companies and faculty to answer questions, solve problems, take messages, transfer calls and make appointments.
• Provide Colleague technical support.
• Provide appropriate and accurate information in assisting external and internal customers.
• Coordinate orientation events for incoming students.
• Use Microsoft Office to help maintain records and documents.
• Assist the department with its annual capstone expo, Open House events, Engineers Day, etc.

Requirements
  • Minimum of an associate’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 2 years work experience in event coordination, strategic planning, marketing research, program management, or promotions required.
  • Ability to work flexibly and cooperatively with students and faculty in a supportive role required
  • Ability to professionally communicate and coordinate with outside agencies such as universities and professional organizations.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously while providing great attention to detail and meeting all prescribed deadlines required.
  • Professional communication skills to include written and oral to include telephone etiquette, positive attitude with a strong desire to assist people required.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access and Excel with the ability to learn/utilize and programs/databases used by the college in this role required.
  • Provide student focused superior customer service in a responsible manner by being knowledgeable, supportive, and demonstrated diversity awareness required.
